DAY 1: RONGAI GATE – SIMBA CAMP (2,600m)
Arrival at Rongai Gate after breakfast and briefing.
Trek through farmland and forest on a gentle trail to Simba Camp, surrounded by open wilderness.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Simba Camp
DAY 2: SIMBA CAMP – SECOND CAVE CAMP (3,450m)
Steady ascent into moorland with expanding views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.
Afternoon arrival at Second Cave Camp.
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Overnight: Second Cave Camp
DAY 3: SECOND CAVE CAMP – KIKELEWA CAMP (3,630m)
The trail becomes steeper and more scenic.
Vegetation thins as altitude increases, and the environment becomes more rugged.
You arrive at Kikelewa Camp, set in a sheltered alpine valley.
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Overnight: Kikelewa Camp
DAY 4: KIKELEWA CAMP – MAWENZI TARN (4,330m)
A short but steep climb leads to Mawenzi Tarn, a spectacular alpine camp located beneath the dramatic spires of Mawenzi Peak.
The afternoon is reserved for rest and acclimatization walks.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Mawenzi Tarn
DAY 5: MAWENZI TARN – KIBO HUT (4,700m)
Cross the wide Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo.
The terrain is rocky and barren, giving a true high-altitude desert experience.
Arrival at Kibo Hut, where you rest and prepare for the summit attempt.
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Overnight: Kibo Hut
DAY 6: SUMMIT DAY – KIBO HUT → UHURU PEAK → HOROMBO HUT (3,720m)
Begin the summit climb around midnight, ascending steep scree slopes to Gilman’s Point, then on to Uhuru Peak.
After celebrating at the summit, descend via the Marangu Route to Horombo Hut for overnight rest.
Hiking Time: 12–15 hours
Overnight: Horombo Hut
DAY 7: HOROMBO HUT – MARANGU GATE (EXIT)
Final descent through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate.
Receive certificates and transfer back to Moshi hotel.
