DAY 1: MACHAME GATE – MACHAME CAMP
After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate for registration.
The trek begins through dense rainforest, with tall trees, hanging moss, and rich wildlife. The trail can be muddy but very scenic.
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Zone: Rainforest
Overnight: Machame Camp
DAY 2: MACHAME CAMP – SHIRA CAMP
You leave the forest behind and climb into the heath and moorland zone.
Views open across the Shira Plateau, and on clear days you can see Mount Meru in the distance.
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Overnight: Shira Camp
DAY 3: SHIRA CAMP – LAVA TOWER – BARRANCO CAMP
This is a key acclimatization day.
You climb steadily to Lava Tower (4,630m), where altitude is strongly felt, then descend to Barranco Camp, located below the impressive Barranco Wall.
Hiking Time: 6–7 hours
Purpose: Climb high, sleep low
Overnight: Barranco Camp
DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP – KARANGA CAMP
After breakfast, you scramble up the Barranco Wall, a fun and non-technical climb.
The trail then leads through alpine valleys to Karanga Camp, giving you extra rest and acclimatization before the summit push.
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Overnight: Karanga Camp
DAY 5: KARANGA CAMP – BARAFU CAMP
A short but important hike to Barafu Camp, your final base before the summit attempt.
Take time to rest, hydrate, and prepare for the night climb.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Overnight: Barafu Camp
DAY 6: SUMMIT DAY – BARAFU → UHURU PEAK → MWEKA CAMP
You begin the summit attempt around midnight, climbing to Stella Point and continuing to Uhuru Peak.
After reaching the summit, you descend all the way to Mweka Camp.
Hiking Time: 12–15 hours
Overnight: Mweka Camp
DAY 7: MWEKA CAMP – MWEKA GATE
Descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, receive your summit certificate, and transfer to your hotel.
